I like this tutorial a lot. I'm going to come back to it when I'm more awake (and have better supplies!) and try it again.
Things that I did differently that affected my outcome:
I used a baaaaad picture of my own eye for my model.
I used two different quality Number 2 pencils. One had a really bad eraser, so I used that to smudge.
The only thing that I was left wanting at the end of this tutorial was that I would really have liked to see the picture he used for his model to compare.
I'm pretty impressed with myself. Compared with what I would have drawn yesterday, my eye skills are improved leaps and bounds. Here are pictures of my eye and my other eye.

omg...if i could draw like that all i would do is draw. i had an artist paint a picture of my son and he said he painted the perfect eye and then he bloted it out with a splash of paint. he said no one but he needed to know how perfect it was. he was a bit weird and i always suspected he could not get the eye right~
